Culzean Castle & Country Park

Culzean is known as Robert Adam’s masterpiece with its dramatic cliff top castle set in 18th century designed landscape of outstanding significance. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and best-loved heritage destinations in Scotland – but heritage comes at a price. Over recent years, while visitor numbers have stayed fairly static, annual income has dropped and running costs have increased.  If we don’t do something about it, the property will become unsustainable. At the same time, the conservation work involved in preserving a historic castle, gardens and estate is mounting up. The Culzean Castle and Country Park Strategy 2016-2018 is a new plan to invest in our heritage; to attract new visitors and to make our conservation work and assets more sustainable. A radical new business model is proposed to disrupt the current trend.
